Fakro BDL P5 - tilt & turn L-shaped combination window, opened to the left. 

The new L-shape combination window BDL P5 is equipped with safe glazing unit with easy maintenance layer. Inner glazing is laminated. In case of any damage to laminated glass, the glass pieces remain stuck with the film.

The L-shaped combination windows are installed where the roof meets a vertical wall. These windows serve to extend the roof window into the wall. This results in the amount of light entering the room and the field of view being greatly increased. The L-shaped combination windows can be combined with roof windows of any type. The new line of L-shaped combination windows is characterised by a new frame and sash structure, innovative hardware and newly designed handle. The internal as well as external L-shaped windows’ profiles match perfectly with the rest of FAKRO roof windows, creating the same decorative pattern. The hardware used enables a tilt and turn opening system – identical to the one used in vertical windows.
The BDL L-shaped combination window can be opened in two distinct ways: tilting or turning. Opened by tilting up to a max. 11 cm and by turning up to 90º.
Both opening methods are performed with the use of one handle positioned on the side of the sash. This window type comes with a lock as a standard.

Glazing unit L3 (safe, insulated with easy maintenace layer)

Single chamber glazing 4HS - Tg14Ar - 33.1T. External pane toughened with easy maintenace layer, warm TGI spacer, inner pane consists of two 3mm thick sheets of glass with 0.38mm layer of PVB plastic membrane between them. The glazing cavity is filled with inert gas argon. The laminated unit is positioned from the room side of the glazing and is coated with low emision layer. In case of laminated glass damage or shattering, pieces of glass will stick to the membrane. Laminated glass also reduces penetration of UV rays by up to 92%. L3 glazing has 2B2 Class according to EN 12600. 

Easy maintenance layer prevents the build-up of dirt and helps to keep the window clean. Firstly it absorbs ultra-violet light from the sun causing a reaction on the surface of the glass which breaks down and loosens dirt. Secondly the glass surface has a coating which, when rain or water flows across the window, causes it to do so evenly across the surface instead of forming water droplets, thereby taking dirt with it. In comparison with ordinary glass the water dries quickly without staining.

Flashings are essential for the correct installation of roof windows. Precisely designed flashing details ensure a durable and neat fit with the roofing material used. The purpose of flashing is to ensure good drainage away from the window and to provide protection from the elements.
